smogsterking the Inspirati 2,490
How time flies I cant believe its 10 years since the legend passed away. His interviews and quotes are still as brilliant to watch and read now than they were originally done. His soccer saturday interview was superb as well. Here is a good little article on him. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/29145641 [video=youtube]
boro-unger 3,870
Legend! Wish more managers would 'say it like it is' these days.
AnglianRed 6,320
An amazing character, but I fear he'd never survive in the PC-correct world of today. He was considered outspoken and a maverick in his time, so god knows what players and team owners would make of him today. Personally, I really liked his no-nonsense approach and his insistence on fair play...again something that might work against him today. Only found out that he hailed from Middlesbrough after reading my Complete History book...a 19th birthday present.
Downsouth 6,327
The only gripe I had with him is that he wanted Martin O'Neill to beat Boro in the cup final, nothing to show support for his home town team
boksicdink 1,942
Yeah but Martin O Neill was one of his protégés, so it's catch 22 for Cloughie thhere

Guest redblood
Boots across his shoulders, striding through the park, The bright young man of 20, the one-time office clerk On his way to Ayresome, living out the dream Playing centre forward for his hometown football team And yeah...I was there. Goals were this lads business, poaching was his game Scoring by the dozen, on his way to fame Stealing all the headlines, stirring up the crowd Mixing it with hard men, bloody but unbowed And yeah...I was there. Never ducked a tackle, never chucked it in, Never stopped competing till a draw became a win Always put his head there, always had a go Always 90 minutes and he always stole the show. Looking back in wonder, deep down memory lane Matchdays in the Holgate, sunshine through the rain Five fantastic seasons, never quite enough The legend in my lifetime that was Boro's Brian Clough And yeah...I was there I was there. Many thanks for reading. See me sing this self penned song on youtube. 'Boots, Louis Spence'.
