Season Preview - Ipswich Town

Ipswich Town finished 16th last season and will be hoping for a better season in the coming campaign.

We spoke to Stephen from the official Ipswich Town Supporters Club about the new EFL Championship season.

When asked about his thoughts about the season, Stephen said "recent seasons have numbed the fans into apathy and last year's crowds/this year's season ticket sales are well down."

"This may have got through to the top brass as we've made some early and exciting signings. As a result my summer optimism has returned early and I would hope we can be in and around the play-offs playing football that the fans enjoy watching."

"The bookies have us as one of the favourites for relegation. A few more canny signings and I'd like to think we can challenge for a play-off spot. Put me on the spot and I'll say 8th."

Talking about which players will be key this season, Stephen said "we have/will sign a lot of new players so it could be one of them. In recent seasons goals have been at a premium so I hope Joe Garner can find his scoring touch early."

Finally, when asked about key fixtures this season, it's an easy one... "Always Norwich, home and away" said Stephen. "Beating them this season would be nice - 2009 was the last time."
