The 3 Bets That Boro Fans Will Never Forget

Middlesbrough FC, affectionately called "The Boro" by the fans, has been tearing up the pitch since 1879.

The club has been through many wars on and off the field for more than a century. Several generations of dedicated supporters have cheered them on throughout that time. These people go to their games at the Riverside Stadium and elsewhere to boost morale. Their belief in the team is so strong that they are willing to put their money on the line.

Boro fans who never wavered in their belief and made bets on their favorite team were justly rewarded with huge wins for these games. For now, they can also play online slots at Royal Vegas to gather more funds for the next season. Casino earnings can power sports betting and vice versa for maximum enjoyment. The Boro has always done their best to keep the crowd happy. Here are three bets that Boro fans will never forget:

2004 Football League Cup Final

On the last day of February in 2004, Middlesbrough and the Bolton Wanderers met at the Millenium Stadium for the Football League Cup finals. This match in Cardiff was attended by over 72,000 screaming fans. The action was intense from the starting whistle as the first goal was scored just 2 minutes into the game. Boudewijn Zenden made a cross that Joseph-Desire Job was able to capitalize on to shock their opponents.

The Wanderers were in disarray after what was then the fastest goal in the history of the tournament. It didn't take long for Boro to put in another goal, this time directly from Zenden off a penalty kick. Kevin Davies cut the deficit to one at the 21st minute but it was not enough to spark a full comeback. This was the club's first ever major trophy.

2005--06 UEFA Cup

This season of the UEFA Cup will always be special in the hearts of Boro fans everywhere. Middlesbrough was able to exceed all expectations and go on to play in the finals of the series. The competition is a chance for the top club teams in Europe to test their skills. Although the team was ultimately defeated in the finals by Sevilla, it was still able to get to the semis where it beat the favored FC Steaua București of Romania 4-3. It will always go down in history as the club's highest achievement thus far.

1997 FA Cup Semis

Middlesbrough ended up as the bridesmaid yet again in this edition of the FA Cup but it did earn the respect of other teams with the way it played throughout the tournament. Their road to Wembley was not easy. Of particular note is their Round 5 match against the highly touted Manchester City which has had Premiere League experience and much more experienced players. Yet when the two teams collided, it was the Boro that came out on top with the lone goal of the match. An impressive feat however you choose to look at it.
