Middlesbrough FC have been linked with a move for West Ham United striker Ashley Fletcher.
According to reports, Boro are closing in on signing Ashley Fletcher from West Ham United, with the player flying home from West Ham’s Germany training camp to commence talks with Boro.
The 21 year old has been linked with a move away from the Hammers since the sining of Javier Hernandez, with prospects of first team football likely to be limited in the upcoming season.
The England Under-20 international made 20 appearances last season for West Ham, however only started two Premier League games.
A host of Championship and Premier League clubs have also shown an interest in signing Fletcher with Leeds United, Reading, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Brighton, Huddersfield and Watford all reportedly linked, however, Boro are the front-runners to secure the signing.
The linked clubs are looking to bring in Fletcher on loan, but Boro are looking to pay up to £7 million to secure the signing.
Fletcher had earlier stated that he wants to fight for his place at West Ham, saying "I want to stay and fight for my place, I started my pre-season early and have done extra training to make sure I’m up for the challenge."
"All teams have squads and it’s up to me to prove that I deserve a place in the starting XI."
"It’s not going to be easy but I am willing to work as hard as needed to force my way into the team. All I am thinking about is to keep working hard and keep improving."
