Aston Villa considering double transfer from Middlesbrough
Aston Villa are reportedly interestedly in a double transfer for Middlesbrough duo Britt Assombalonga and Darren Randolph.
According to local media, Aston Villa are looking to reinforce their squad after a double injury blow to Wesley and Tom Heaton. Both players suffered season-ending injuries in the Premier League clash at Burnley and Villa are short of number in both positions.
Randolph has been the subject of transfer speculation from several English sides, with West Ham United reportedly interested in the shot-stopper. It is understood that the Hammers have had a transfer bid rejected by Boro as they look to bring the Irish international back to the London Stadium.
Aston Villa joining the race could make things interesting as Boro would be able to drive up the player's value. In addition, the emergence of Aynsley Pears in recent weeks could mean that Middlesbrough could be tempted to let the 32-year-old leave in January.
Assombalonga meanwhile has struggled with injuries in the past month amid reports that several clubs have enquired about a transfer. The 27-year-old is valued at around £10 million and Boro could be tempted to cash-in if the right offer is made.
The loan signing of Luka Nmecha could mean that the club is adequately covered in the striking positions.
