Bates Attracting Interest
West Ham United are leading the way to sign out-of-contract defender Matthew Bates from Middlesbrough FC.
The 22 year old is attracting interest from Everton, West Ham United and Wigan FC after an impressive season for Boro.
Bates is out of contract in the summer and has rejected Boro's offer of an extension.
West Ham United have made their move and are looking to tie down a long term deal.

Boro would be due compensation as Bates is under 24, however it would likely be nowhere near his market value.
