Bates Signs On
Matthew Bates has signed a three-year contract at Middlesbrough FC.
A range of Premier League clubs were reported to be interested in Bates, including Wigan, Fulham, Sunderland and West Ham United.
The 22-year-old, graduated from the Boro Academy however suffered three serious knee injuries.
Bates enjoyed his longest spell in the first team last season and scored his first goal against Hull City.

Chief executive Keith Lamb said, "We are delighted Matthew has decided to commit his future to Middlesbrough.
