Birmingham City sign former Boro midfielder
Birmingham City have signed former Boro midfielder Adam Clayton.
Adam Clayton joins the Blues and reunites with former Boro boss, Aitor Karanka.
Clayton joins Birmingham City following his release from Middlesbrough this summer, after spending six years at the Riverside. He was widely expected to leave Boro in the summer transfer window, despite his insistence that he wanted to stay.
Furthermore, Neil Warnock did not seem to favour his abilities as he made just two substitute appearances after he took charge following Jonathan Woodgate's sacking.
Speaking after the move the 31-year-old said, "It's been a really weird few months, but I'm delighted to get this opportunity, and relishing the chance to work with former colleagues and really give it a good go."
Clayton also relishes playing with former Boro captain George Friend and believes that they can reach the standards Karanka demands.
"Having George here helps. We've done it together in the past and we know the kind of standards the manager sets."
