Boro beat Wolverhampton Wanderers 2-1 in the FA Cup, with goals coming from Afonso Alves and Marvin Emnes.
A welcome win for Middlesbrough against Wolves, who are top of the Championship.
Within 2 minutes, Andrew Taylor limped off after falling awkwardly. Matthew Bates came on to replace the left back.
On the 43rd minute, Afonso Alves was released by Tuncay and with Wolves keeper stranded in the box, Alves executed a beautiful chip into the back of the net.
Shawky was replaced at half time, after picking up a minor injury. Justin Hoyte made a return to action, with Bates moving into midfield.
Sam Vokes leveled on 62 minutes after climbing above Riggott and heading past Brad Jones from the edge of the 6 yard box.
Afonso Alves limped off the pitch with Marvin Emnes replacing him.
With 82 minutes played Downing powered forward and released Marvin Emnes who shot low. The ball hit the post and dribbled into the back of the net.
