Boro captain blasts teammates after shock defeat
Boro captain George Friend has blasted his teammates for their performance in the 1-0 loss at home to Luton Town.
Boro appear to be moving downwards towards the relegation places after the disappointing loss on Saturday.
Luton arrived to the Riverside second bottom in the table and on a run of 10 away matches losing streak.
However, the away side shocked their hosts with an opener in the 17th minute from Ryan Tunnicliffe.
Boro tried to respond but Luton held on for an away win.
Friend made his first appearance since November and revealed his frustration at the way the game ended in a post game interview with BBC Tees.
When quizzed about the game he admitted that the performance was not good enough.
"Disappointment, frustration and a little bit of anger. It just wasn't good enough and we have to accept that," he said.
"I think they played the conditions better than us, they outfought us at times, which can't happen."
Despite this disappointment, Friend still believes that Boro can reverse their poor run of form. He also alluded that with the injury problems getting better, and the quality of players, they should be able to bounce back from the defeat.
"We're positive, we've nearly got a fully-fit squad and we've got some very good players and we've showed already this season how good we can be."
