Middlesbrough FC have announced the loan signing of Huddersfield Town midfielder on loan for the remainder of the season.

As reported last week, the 27-year-old Huddersfield Town winger undertook a medical with Boro last week and was in the stands alongside Steve Gibson for Boro's 2-0 win over Ipswich Town on Saturday.

The Dutchman signed for Huddersfield in the summer of 2016 for £800,000, featuring 97 times for the Terriers in all competitions, scoring 7 goals in the process. However, he has only featured five times for Huddersfield this season.

Van La Parra will officially join Boro on 1st January 2019 when the transfer window opens and will remain a Boro player for the remainder of the season.

It was expected that Van La Parra's transfer would go through in time for Boro's New Year's Day clash with Derby County, however it's understood he will not be eligible for the game due to registration deadlines.

Huddersfield Town boss David Wagner said "Rajiv is 27 and understandably wants to play regular football, which is not something I can offer him at Huddersfield right now."

"We wish him the best of luck at Middlesbrough for the rest of the season."

Meanwhile, Boro manager Tony Pulis said "he’s one of the players we were looking to add to the squad, he’s got tremendous pace."

"He’s got a promotion with Huddersfield on his CV, he’s played for them in the Premier League and he’s played in the Championship with Wolves so he has a good pedigree."

"I think he will be a really good signing for us and offers something that we’ve been looking for."
