Boro Face Injury Challenges Ahead of Oxford United Match
Boro are set to face Oxford United without key players Aidan Morris and Hayden Hackney who are sidelined due to injuries.
Middlesbrough FC face considerable challenges as they prepare for their upcoming game against Oxford United, with two significant players, Aidan Morris and Hayden Hackney, sidelined due to injuries.
Midfielder Morris, who made the switch from MLS's Columbus Crew, is expected to be unavailable for a number of weeks after sustaining a knee injury last week. His recovery process is currently taking place in the United States, where he is undergoing further assessments and treatment. According to reports from The Northern Echo, he is not expected to rejoin the club until early next week.
Hackney's situation, while less severe, is still a cause for concern. He has been ruled out from international duty with the England Under-21s owing to an ankle injury. Although he is receiving treatment at Rockliffe Park, there is still uncertainty regarding his fitness ahead of the match on Saturday.
"Hackney had an ankle issue, and we’re still assessing him. He’s not long been back, so we’ll see how that goes," said Michael Carrick.
"Aidan Morris twisted his knee last week, and he’s going to be out for a number of weeks. He’s not back with us until Monday because he’s getting some extra treatment over there, and it allows him to take a deep breath really."
"It’s a blow,” Carrick admitted. “It’s disappointing, but it’s part of the game ultimately, and hopefully, he won’t be too long. At some point, we were looking to give him a break anyway, so if anything, this may be the break he needed, albeit unfortunate in the way that it’s come about. He’ll come back strong and fit and fresh.”
