Boro join Swansea City and West Brom in the race for recently released Sheffield United defender
Middlesbrough are currently short in defence, especially in the left-back position, and they have now been linked with a move for one of the recently released Sheffield United players.
According to reports, Middlesbrough have joined Swansea City and West Brom in the race for free-agent defender Kean Bryan, who left Sheffield United following the expiration of his contract.
The 24-year-old played 13 times for the Blades last season in the Premier League, and despite being offered a new deal, he has decided to look elsewhere for better opportunities in the summer transfer window.
Middlesbrough are the latest side to be interested in signing him, after their move for Cardiff City defender Ciaron Brown looks to be in doubt.
Brown has recently grown to be a starter with Cardiff City, and it could be difficult to convince him to sign for Boro.
With Boro currently short in the left-back position, following injuries to Marc Bola and Hayden Coulson, a move for a new left-sided player is important.
Although Bryan is a central defender, he plays well in midfield, and he can also play as a left-back.

Boro need to sign a new player for that position as soon as possible, considering that Coulson could leave the club before the end of the transfer window, leaving them shorter in the position. It remains to be seen what Neil Warnock has in mind for that position before the end of the summer.
