'Boro linked with a move for Brentford's captain'
Middlesbrough FC have been linked with a move for the 27-year-old attacking midfielder.
According to rumours, Boro are interested in signing Brentford captain Romaine Sawyers.
The attacking midfielder has 18 months remaining on his current contract, with Boro and Aston Villa reportedly showing an interest in securing the signature of the Saint Kitts and Nevis international.
Aston Villa are reportedly in pole position to complete the signing of the midfielder in the January transfer window, with Villa manager Dean Smith having managed Sawyers at both Brentford and Walsall.
With 18 months left on his Brentford contract, The Bees will be looking to cash in on the player, rather than letting him leave for free in the 2020 summer transfer window.
Sawyers has racked up 115 appearances for Brentford since joining in 2016, scoring 8 times and assisting in 16 goals.
