Boro Squad To Play York

Boro Squad To Play York

Middlesbrough FC face York City tonight for the first pre season friendly. All of Boro's fit first team squad will get a game.

Luke Young will miss the game after picking up a hamstring strain and Gary O’Neil is still coming back from his knee operation.

New signing Marvin Emnes is hoping to get International Clearance in time to feature in the game.

Tuncay will not play in the game, after having a longer holiday due to Euro 08 in which Turkey got to the Semi Finals.

Southgate said: “The players will be quite fatigued going into the game at York, but that is intentional.

“We want it to be part of the training programme so really the York game is about getting them on a full pitch again. Nobody will play more than 45 minutes.

“It’s a game we are looking forward to. York being just down the road will be a good workout for us.”

“Mido has been in excellent condition. He got a bit of a kick in training but he should be fine for York. Robert Huth has been training pretty much full on with the team.

“There’s only Luke Young who’s got a bit of a tweak (hamstring) who will definitely miss York, and Gary.”

Tickets for the game can be bought for £10 adults and £5 children and students.
