Boro Tipped to Land Wolves’ Doyle
Aitor Karanka is getting ready to make his first major signing in charge of Middlesbrough as the club continue to be linked with Wolves’ want-away striker, Kevin Doyle.
Karanka, who is yet to make any permanent changes to his squad this January, has initiated a turn in fortune at the Riverside that has seen Boro win four of their last six games.
Yet fans of the live football commentary know problems still remain, and the squad isn’t strong enough going forward to sustain a playoff push. Doyle, vastly experienced playing in the Championship, would be a valuable asset to have.
Although he’s scored just three goals this season, Doyle is well versed in finding the net in English football’s second tier having bagged almost a goal every three games for Reading. He would get more service at Boro than he currently does with Wolves, making him an underrated goal scorer.
Indeed, a relatively small bid should see Wolves give up the player, although one major obstacle is his wages. The Ireland international reportedly earns £40,000 a week – unsustainable for Wolves in League 1 but just about manageable for Boro if the contract is split between the clubs.
As mean as it is to prey on the misfortune of other clubs, this is football and plenty of football betting pundits see this as a good move for the club and striker.
For, with the target man position already taken by Curtis Main and Lukas Jutkiewicz, Karanka is likely to play three imposing strikers in his 4-2-3-1 system and press of opposition defences.

Doyle alongside this pair could produce goals from nowhere and his speed would prove a real commodity when Boro are counter attacking away from home – ensuring they have a complete, durable and reliable attacking force capable of making the top six.
