Boro unlikely to sell Newcastle United target in summer
Middlesbrough will reportedly turn down offers for highly coveted defender Hayden Coulson.
Coulson has attracted interest from different clubs, with rumours in recent days linking the left-back with a move to Newcastle United.
The Sun claims that Newcastle United scouts have been watching the player in recent games as manager Steve Bruce concludes his summer transfer list.
It is understood that Bruce is a huge fan of Coulson and could sanction a bid of £10m for the defender in the summer. However, local media claims that Boro chiefs have hinted that they won’t sell the player in the summer.
Coulson is seen as an important player and one that they could build on and the club are willing to turn down offers.
The 21-year-old is able to play as a winger or left-back and has been utilised by Jonathan Woodgate mainly as a wing-back.
His pace and energy has made him one of the fans favourite at the Riverside Stadium. He is also direct and has good crossing ability.
Coulson recently signed a new deal with Boro.
