Boyd struggles to make the Championship pace
At this point of the season it was widely expected Middlesbrough would be leading the Championship and Kris Boyd would have a handful of goals to his name. This hasn't happened and Boro fans have had every reason to be a little concerned about the state of things at the Riverside.
Things have picked up in recent games for the under pressure manager Gordon Strachan, back-to-back wins have given Boro some momentum and helped them climb the table. The 2-1 win over Burnley was the side's second win of the season, with Estonian forward Tarmo Kink scoring his first two goals for Middlesbrough. They followed that victory with a confident 3-1 win over Reading last weekend. Goals from Barry Robson, Leroy Lita and David Wheater gave the hosts the win. The Andy Gray Betfair Football predictions suggest the side will now push on.
However, the Reading win saw summer signing Kris Boyd on the bench once again. Leroy Lita has been given a chance after Boyd's toothless displays so far this season, in which he has only scored once. It is a surprising return from the Scottish striker, who holds the record for the SPL's all time leading scorer. Boyd finished top scorer north of the border in four out of five seasons and left Rangers with a prolific 101 goals in 143 appearances.
That record had attracted interest from many teams throughout Europe with interest from the Premier League as well as teams in Turkey and Russia. Strachan managed to convince Boyd that his Boro side were going places and that it would be the perfect place for the striker to start his career in England.
Boyd will need to start improving soon if he is to get back into the first team. Boro boast one of the strongest squads in the Championship and have quality strikers in depth. Lita has taken his chance in the first team after being given his chance by Strachan, as is Estonian Kink. As well as those two, Boyd also faces competition from former Celtic striker Scott MacDonald along with Lee Miller. In general, Boro fans will be pleased the Middlesbrough betting suggests there still in with a chance of promotion, but the form of a man who was supposed to be their leading striker is a worry.

Boyd is clearly a talented goalscorer and should have more than enough ability to score bagfuls in this league, Boro fans will be hoping it's just a matter of time before Boyd gets settled and finds some form.
