Brentford leading the charge for Boro's Rav van den Berg

Middlesbrough defender Rav van den Berg is drawing attention from Premier League clubs, with Brentford and Crystal Palace reportedly keen on securing his signature.

Middlesbrough's defender, Rav van den Berg, is drawing significant interest from Premier League clubs, with Brentford reportedly leading the charge for his signature. Sources suggest that the Bees are preparing a bid in the region of £15 million for the 20-year-old, whose attributes align well with Brentford's data-driven approach to player recruitment.

A move to Brentford holds personal significance for van den Berg, as it would provide an opportunity to reunite with his brother, Sepp, who has become a key figure for the Bees since his transfer from Liverpool. Transfer expert Graeme Bailey commented on this family connection, noting, "Brentford like him; could he team up with his brother there? I wouldn't rule it out." However, van den Berg has made it clear that his primary focus is securing regular playing time, rather than being swayed by personal ties.

In addition to Brentford's interest, Crystal Palace are also reportedly contemplating a substantial offer of £27 million for van den Berg and his Middlesbrough teammate, Hayden Hackney. Palace are eager to bolster their defence to complement a high-pressing style of play, and van den Berg's ball-playing abilities make him an appealing target.

Since joining Middlesbrough from PEC Zwolle in July 2023, van den Berg's journey has been up and down. He enjoyed a great debut season, clinching both the Player of the Season and Young Player of the Season awards. However, a series of injuries have hampered his progress during his second season, limiting his number of Championship appearances.

As the summer transfer window progresses, all eyes are on Hayden Hackney and Rav van den Berg, who finds themselves at the centre of a competitive pursuit between Brentford and Crystal Palace.
