Brighton enter four-team race for Boro winger
Premier League side Brighton have made an enquiry for the services of Boro winger Marcus Tavernier.
It is understood that the race for the England Under-20 international has gained momentum in recent weeks with Watford, Crystal Palace and Burnley also interested in his services.
Reports claim that Brighton are keen on his services and are ready to splash the cash in the summer transfer window to secure his signature.
Marcus Tavernier has enjoyed a good season, making 32 appearances for Boro this campaign. Middlesbrough moved quickly to tie him down on a three and a half year contract in January, when it had been reported that West Ham United, Aston Villa and Newcastle United had been monitoring his progress.
At the time, Woodgate cited the young winger as an essential part of the team.
"He was a player I was keen to get tied up as soon as we could because of what he brings to the team. People can see now what he's all about," Woodgate said.

Tavernier's versatility is one of his greatest traits alongside his hardworking nature on the pitch. He is able to play as a winger, behind the striker and has also been used as a wing back this season.
