Bristol City confirm the release of Middlesbrough target
Bristol City have finally confirmed the release of Famara Diedhiou from the club after four years.
Middlesbrough will have a chance to sign the 28-year-old free agent who has now left Bristol City. Diedhiou scored eight goals and provided one assist in 40 Championship matches.
Boro have been interested in signing the Senegalese, as they tried to sign him in the January transfer window, but the deal didn't materialise.
The club now have the opportunity to sign him for free.
Diedhiou reportedly rejected offers of a new deal from the Robins because he wants a wage increase. He is one of the 12 players Bristol City to be released.
Bristol City boss Nigel Pearson said, "I have spoken with each departing player and wish them all well in the next stage of their careers."
"We are entering into a significant transition period for the club, and central to that is deciding which players can take this club forward."
"The first element of that is largely done, and now it's about looking forward to who we can bring in as we build towards next season."

Middlesbrough will need to do a big job to convince Diedhiou to sign for them because his wage demand could be a stumbling block.
