Burnley To Break Transfer Record For Williams
Middlesbrough FC have told Burnley that they will have to break their £1.3 million transfer record to sign defender Rhys Williams.
Rhys Williams, 20, is held in high regard by Boro and manager Gareth Southgate is aware of his capabilities at Championship level.
Williams enjoyed a successful three month loan spell with Burnley FC helping guide them to the Championship play-off. Williams was unavailable for the Clarets play-off final but was invited along by boss Owen Coyle.
Rhys Williams stated after the play-off final that he would be interested in joining Burnley.

We'll have to wait and see what happens, but I'd love to come back," said Williams. "It's not all down to me at the end of the day, it's down to the two gaffers, but I wouldn't say no.
