Carrick Provides Fitness Update on McGree and Dieng

Michael Carrick shares optimism regarding the potential comebacks of Riley McGree and Seny Dieng as Boro prepare for a crucial week ahead.

Middlesbrough manager Michael Carrick has provided a fitness update on the potential returns of Riley McGree and Seny Dieng, as the club approaches a pivotal week in their campaign. Both players missed yesterday’s victory over Hull City.

Carrick shared his hopes for Dieng, who missed the Hull match due to illness, expressing confidence in the goalkeeper’s chances of regaining fitness ahead of the trip to Burnley. He also addressed the situation with McGree, who has been recovering from a dead leg.

“Seny trained over the last day or so, but he had a bit of a stop-start situation when he was away on international duty and didn’t have much training. After coming back, he hasn’t been feeling well, but he is training again,” Carrick said.

As for McGree, Carrick said, “Riley suffered a dead leg on Wednesday. We’re not sure how bad it is, but it was substantial enough to keep him out today. We’ll have to see how he progresses before next week.”

Middlesbrough are also closely monitoring the fitness of Rav van den Berg and Lukas Engel, both of which have recently returned to training following injuries. However, the situation remains less positive for Aidan Morris, who is sidelined with a long-term knee injury sustained while on international duty.
