Crystal Palace are reportedly keen to acquire Middlesbrough’s promising defender, Rav van den Berg, amid growing interest from several clubs in the young talent. Football Insider report that Crystal Palace have been monitoring van den Berg for over 18 months and are considering a bid to test Middlesbrough’s resolve in holding on to the defender.
Since his arrival at Middlesbrough from PEC Zwolle in the summer of 2023, the 20-year-old has firmly established himself as a crucial player. His versatility has been a significant asset, allowing him to excel both in central defence and as a full-back. Van den Berg’s rapid ascent is underscored by his performances, which have not only made him a standout in the Championship but also earned him a spot in the Netherlands Under-21 national team.
Currently under contract at the Riverside Stadium until June 2027, Middlesbrough hold considerable leverage in any potential negotiations regarding his future.
Prior to his move to Middlesbrough, he accumulated 32 appearances for PEC Zwolle, and has continued to build on that tally with 47 appearances for his current club. All eight of his appearances this season have been in the centre-back position, further solidifying his reputation as a dependable defender.
