Everton and Newcastle United battle for Dael Fry
Reports claim that Middlesbrough defender Dael Fry is a transfer target for Premier League clubs Newcastle United and Everton. According to the reports, Boro are ready to cash in on the defender as they look to raise much-needed funds ahead of next season.
Dael Fry is regarded as one of the best defenders in the Championship, with his consistency and versatility leading to attention from other clubs.
It was reported in the January transfer window that Premier League side Burnley had made an offer of around £10 million for the defender.
Boro rejected the offer for the defender, who they value in the region of £20 million. It is understood Boro would be willing to consider bids in that region and this has caught the attention of Everton and Newcastle United.
Everton are seeking a long-term replacement for Phil Jagielka and Fry fits the mould of an uncompromising defender, with the potential to develop into an international centre-back.
Newcastle United, meanwhile, are set to be awash with money with an impending takeover from Saudi Arabia crown prince due to be finalised soon. It is thought that the club have identified Fry as one of the players that could be the bedrock of a new-look side.

Although it is understood that Fry is happy at Boro, Steve Gibson is open to sell Fry and bringing in funds that could be used by Jonathan Woodgate to strengthen ahead of next season.
