'Fellow Championship side Interested in signing £9m rated Boro striker'

Reports have further claimed that while Swansea would like to sign the striker on a permanent basis, a loan move looks more likely.

Middlesbrough striker Martin Braithwaite is tipped to join fellow Championship side Swansea City in the January transfer window, multiple reports have claimed.

It is reported that Swansea manager Graham Potter is a huge admirer of the 27-year-old, though any move for the Danish international won’t be cheap.

Braithwaite is reportedly earning a hefty £55,000 a week, hence Boro would want Swansea to pay all his wages should the striker depart on loan.

As far as Swansea are concerned, they would want to sign Braithwaite to give more competition to Oliver McBurnie – who is currently the sole striker for the Swans.

Braithwaite’s form has been poor

Having made 12 starts in the Championship this season, Braithwaite has cut a solitary figure on the bench in the last few weeks, with him being omitted from the Boro squad who lost 2-1 at QPR over the weekend.

In those appearances, Braithwaite has found the back of the net only 3 times, a sorry return for a striker in which many Boro fans tipped to lead their attack this season. His last goal for the club came way back in August in a 2-0 victory against Bristol City.

As a result of his lackluster form, Braithwaite has fallen low in the pecking order at Boro, with fellow strikers Jordan Hugill and Britt Assombalonga ahead of him in the manager’s plans.

Braithwaite on his future

When asked whether he sees himself at Boro next summer, Braithwaite said "Yes, to me, I do not think so much about things. I play soccer and focus on the ambition, which is moving up."

However, after almost confirming that he’s going to stay at the club beyond January, Braithwaite himself raised doubts about his future.

"At the same time, I know, and I have learned through the years that football is very powerful, so you cannot really say what's going to happen in six months. You can only live in the present and that's what I'm trying to do."
