Finn Azaz passes Middlesbrough FC medical
According to reports, Finn Azaz has passed his medical at Middlesbrough ahead of a January transfer window move.
The Middlesbrough medical for Finn Azaz was completed last night, according to The Northern Echo writer, Dominic Shaw, ahead of his imminent move as their first signing for the January transfer window.
Bristol City and Southampton had both been interested in signing the 23-year-old midfielder, but Middlesbrough appear to have won the race.
Azaz has been in fine form for Plymouth Argyle in the Championship this season, showcasing his talent by contributing seven goals and five assists. One of his standout moments came when Plymouth faced Middlesbrough at Home Park, and Azaz found the back of the net in a 3-3 draw between the two sides.
After representing the Republic of Ireland at the Under-21 level, Azaz joined Aston Villa from West Brom in 2021, but was loaned to Newport County and then Plymouth.
While Azaz was out for a significant portion of last season due to a broken ankle, he still made an impact on Plymouth. With eight goals in 24 starts, he played a critical role in their promotion from League One. It was his performances on the field that caught the attention of several clubs, which ultimately led to his impending move to Middlesbrough.
