Howson reveals routine during lockdown
With football across England coming to a halt, Middlesbrough's last competitive game was the 1-0 win at Charlton on March 7th.
The Middlesbrough squad have returned to training this week, but one player that has been keeping in shape during the lockdown period is experienced midfielder, Jonny Howson.
He revealed to TeessideLive his experience during the lockdown. According to Howson, the fitness coaches at the club have been keeping tabs with the players by offering novel training programmes to keep them fit.
"The fitness coaches are in touch regularly about the things I can do."
"They keep me updated with the latest programmes, so it has been all right."
He also revealed that he has been making regular runs alongside the river bank close to where he lives.
"Fortunately, there’s a river opposite where I live and there are some nice runs I can go on," he said.
"Okay, it’s not what we’re used to with regards to the football pitches and surfaces we usually use but at least I can go for a run."
There are hopes that the season could restart in before the end of June and Howson is one of the players that will be key for the Riverside outfit in their bid to avoid the drop.
