Hull City join Boro in the race for League One midfielder
Several clubs have shown interest in signing Sunderland versatile midfielder Luke O'Nien, as Hull City also join the race.
According to reports, Middlesbrough will need to add Hull City to the list of clubs they will have to compete with for the signing of O'Nien from Sunderland.
Millwall and Luton Town are the two other sides interested in the 26-year-old, who can play in both midfield and defence.
O'Nien played 44 times for the Black Cats in all competition last season, and he has always been a consistent presence for the club since he signed for them in 2018.
His versatility makes him an important player, and because his current deal is set to expire in a few days, he has attracted transfer interest from various Championship clubs.
O'Nien could reportedly be interested in playing in the Championship next season after Sunderland failed to secure promotion from League One at the end of the season.
