Leeds United keen on signing Middlesbrough forward
Leeds United are reportedly interested in a move for Middlesbrough striker Britt Assombalonga.
According to the Daily Mirror, Leeds United have identified the forward as their main transfer target in January.
The Elland Road outfit are keen on signing Assombalonga following the early termination of Eddie Nketiah's loan deal.
Leeds are under pressure to bring in strikers following their recent drop in form.
Patrick Bamford has been criticised by many fans for his inability to finish the chances created by the team.
Assombalonga is viewed by Leeds as a clinical striker that can add much-needed goals in their hunt for promotion.
The promotion chasers have won just one of their last eight matches, which has seen the gap between them and the chasing pack reduced.
Leeds are expected to make a transfer bid for Assombalonga this week. According to club insiders, there is hope that the deal could be done in the next few days in time for their game against Millwall next Tuesday.

Assombalonga is Boro’s record signing following his £15 million move from Nottingham Forest two seasons back. Boro will be looking to recoup a similar fee from Leeds United.
