Luke Ayling joins Boro on loan from Leeds United
Middlesbrough FC have secured the services of experienced full-back Luke Ayling from Leeds United. With over 550 career games under his belt, Ayling's arrival adds depth and defensive stability to Boro's squad.
Since joining Leeds in 2016, Ayling has made 268 appearances, including nearly a century in the Premier League. In the 2019/20 season, he helped Leeds secure promotion to the top flight, and in the previous season, he helped the team reach the Championship play-offs.
Boro manager Michael Carrick expressed his delight at securing Ayling's signature in the January transfer window, describing him as a player with good experience who has played at the highest level.
"We're delighted to bring Luke to the club," Carrick told the Boro website.
"He is a player with good experience, he's a promotion winner, and he's played at the highest level."
"He's a terrific character as well and we see him as a great fit for what we have here. He's exactly what we're looking for at the club."
Ayling's arrival at Middlesbrough comes at a time when they are without their regular right-backs, Anfernee Dijksteel and Tommy Smith. As Boro strive for a play-off spot and solidify their backline, Ayling's defensive capabilities and experience will be crucial.
It is expected that Ayling will be available for Boro's upcoming match against Millwall this Saturday.
