Michael Carrick Discusses Seny Dieng's Future Amid Goalkeeping Competition
Michael Carrick addresses the uncertainty surrounding goalkeeper Seny Dieng's position as he returns from injury, with Tom Glover performing well and a potential loan deal for Mark Travers on the horizon.
According to Teesside Live, Middlesbrough manager Michael Carrick has acknowledged the uncertainty surrounding goalkeeper Seny Dieng's future as the January transfer window unfolds.
Despite Dieng's return to fitness and his inclusion in the matchday squad for the recent encounter against Portsmouth, Carrick indicated that Glover's form may see him retain the starting role for the upcoming clash against West Bromwich Albion.
"Seny's fit but it's not always easy to pick the team," Carrick remarked. "As I've said many times through the season, we've got a good squad and there are decisions we have to make. Tom has done well and he deserves to play tomorrow."
The speculation surrounding Dieng's future has intensified, particularly with Middlesbrough reportedly pursuing a loan deal for Bournemouth goalkeeper Mark Travers.
The club faces competition from Watford in their efforts to secure Travers's services, adding extra complexity to the goalkeeping situation.

Carrick has been keen to emphasise Dieng's value to the team, stating, "Seny is an important player for us, as is every player who is here. I try not to treat any player any differently. I genuinely try to treat everyone the same and give them a fair chance. That doesn't change. Whoever is here, while they're here, I'll be exactly the same with everyone."
