Michael Carrick Provides Injury Update on Seny Dieng and Luke Ayling
Michael Carrick shares positive news regarding the recovery of Seny Dieng and Luke Ayling, who missed the recent match against Plymouth Argyle due to injuries.
Middlesbrough manager Michael Carrick has provided an optimistic update regarding the injury statuses of Seny Dieng and Luke Ayling, both of whom missed Saturday's 3-3 draw against Plymouth Argyle.
According to Teesside Live, Ayling's absence was anticipated after he sustained a knee injury during the previous week’s victory over Millwall, which forced him off prematurely.
Dieng's situation, however, was less straightforward. Although he had lost his starting position to Sol Brynn in the Millwall game, it was expected that he would at least be available for selection on the bench. However, a minor knock sustained in training ruled him out entirely for the Plymouth fixture.
Following the match, Carrick expressed optimism about the recovery timelines for both players. He remarked: "Seny shouldn't be out too long. He just picked up a bit of a niggle. It's nothing major, so he shouldn't be too long. Luke shouldn't be too long either. A few days, maybe a week or so, but not too long."

Further reports from The Northern Echo suggest that Ayling's knee injury is not severe, and he is expected to return to action within a week. His potential comeback could see him available for either the Sheffield Wednesday match on Boxing Day or the fixture against Burnley the following Sunday.
