Middlesbrough closing in on former Arsenal striker
Boro have begun talks with French forward Yaya Sanogo, according to reports.
Yaya Sanogo enjoyed an impressive youth career, but has struggled to translate his initial potential into sustained success.
The 27-year-old is available on a free, after his contract at Toulouse expired in the summer. It is understood that Boro are keen on the player, with the club confident of securing his signature in the coming days.
Boro have endured an underwhelming summer transfer window so far, as the club have missed out on a number of targets.
Sanogo is not a foregone conclusion, as other Championship clubs are also interested in his services.
Built as a target-man, Sanogo can lead the line and is the ideal forward for the style favoured by manager Neil Warnock.
- Warnock wants to sign one or two experienced players
- Warnock refuses to give definite answer on the future of Nathan Wood
It remains to be seen if this deal will be finalised in the coming days, however, if reports are to be believed he will be a Boro player by the end of the week.
