Middlesbrough complete the signing of Chuba Akpom

Boro have completed the signing of sought-after striker for an undisclosed fee.

The former Arsenal youngster joins from PAOK where he had a good spell with in the Greek Super League.

The 24-year-old striker scored 18 goals during his two year stint with PAOK, firing them to unlikely title success in 2019.

Despite his age, the enigmatic forward brings experience to the team and has already tasted successful Championship promotion-winning campaigns with Hull City and Brighton, while he was on loan from Arsenal.

Chuba Akpom learnt his craft from the Gunners Academy, having made his debut in the Premier League as a 17-year-old. He has also represented England at all youth levels.

Boro boss Neil Warnock was excited earlier this week, with news emerging from the club that a deal for his primary target was very imminent. The club finally completed the move for striker on Saturday morning.

"I am delighted to finally have him," said Warnock.

"He has been my number one choice. I've wanted him for a long time. I would like to give a big thanks to Neil Bausor for getting it done."

"I told him what we were doing at the club, and right from day one, he wanted to come, and I'm delighted."

Warnock has had a chat with the new striker about his aims and hopes for the club and the new striker was very happy to have completed the formalities and to have signed a three-year contract with the option of a further year.

Akpom joins Sam Morsy, Marcus Bettinelli, and Grant Hall in joining the Boro team as Warnock looks to shape his squad.

The striker watched Boro draw with Bournemouth at the Riverside Stadium on Saturday and is likely to be in the squad for their next fixture against QPR.
