Middlesbrough defender rejects Bolton rumours
Middlesbrough defender Rhys Williams has played down football betting rumours that he is set to move to Bolton Wanderers in the January transfer window.
With just six weeks to go until teams are allowed to make their move in the transfer market again, speculation is set to be rife, especially with regards to the Middlesbrough players that have helped the team reach third in the Championship.
Williams – who has impressed many with his performances this season – has said that he is fully committed to Middlesbrough though, revealing his determination to succeed with the Riverside club.
The 23-year-old said: “While I am determined to play in the Premier League, I want to make that happen with Middlesbrough.”
“We are third at the moment and we're going to be very close this season. Of course I'd love to play in the top flight, what player wouldn't?”
“But I am happy where I am and have never said that I want to go elsewhere. I don't know where all this has come from about Bolton and Liverpool. I don't know anything about it.”
Middlesbrough will be hoping that Williams will be able to put his football boots on, forget about these rumours and perform for Tony Mowbray’s men at home to Blackpool this weekend.
As mentioned, Boro occupy third position at the moment, while Blackpool are two places below them in fifth. It is therefore a massive game for these promotion hopefuls with just five points separating them.
