Middlesbrough Face Injury Challenges Ahead of Burnley Clash
Middlesbrough are gearing up for a vital home match against Burnley, grappling with multiple injury concerns.
Middlesbrough are preparing for a vital home encounter against Burnley, following a frustrating 3-3 draw with Sheffield Wednesday on Boxing Day.
The match proved particularly disappointing for manager Michael Carrick, whose team squandered a commanding three-goal lead, conceding three times in the second half. Compounding Boro's challenges are a series of injury concerns just days before the Burnley game.
Currently, Boro are without several key players, including Seny Dieng, Luke Ayling, George Edmundson, Aidan Morris, and Jonny Howson.
The situation was made worse during the Sheffield Wednesday match when Tommy Conway was forced off after just eight minutes due to a hamstring issue.
Additionally, both Sol Brynn and Neto Borges were substituted in the second half, further depleting the squad. To add to their woes, Rav van den Berg will be suspended after receiving a red card for two bookings.
As reported by Teesside Live, Carrick said, "Tommy felt his hamstring a little bit at the start, so we took him off straight away. We're not sure yet on how serious that will be. Neto's was more fatigue, cramp, really, so that shouldn't be serious. But Sol looks like it was a bad one with his shoulder. I'm not sure [if it dislocated] but it looked a bad one. I'm bitterly disappointed for him having to come off. He's done terrific when he's played so it would be a disappointment if he had to miss any games."
As it stands, all three players are doubtful for the upcoming match against Burnley, alongside Van den Berg, who will miss the game due to suspension.
Among those who were unavailable for the Sheffield Wednesday clash, only three have a slim chance of returning for the Sunday encounter.

Carrick said, "George and Jonny both picked up niggles in training, so we'll have to see over the next few days in training whether they'll be back for the next game or not. Neither should be long-term or serious. For Burnley, Aidan and Seny still won't be available but Luke might. We'll see how he gets on ahead of Sunday."
