Middlesbrough FC Interested in Defender Bali Mumba from Plymouth Argyle
Middlesbrough FC are reportedly interested in signing defender Bali Mumba from Plymouth Argyle, following their bid for forward Morgan Whittaker.
Boro are reportedly eyeing a second signing from Plymouth Argyle, having already expressed interest in forward Morgan Whittaker.
The focus has now shifted to defender Bali Mumba, as noted by journalist Graham Bailey, who confirmed that Middlesbrough are "showing interest" in the 23-year-old. Should this move materialise, Mumba could join Whittaker at the Riverside Stadium.
Sky Sports reporter Keith Downie has highlighted that Boro's bid for Whittaker has been accepted by Plymouth, with the forward expected to undergo a medical this weekend, pending the finalisation of personal terms. However, the club are also keen on securing Mumba's services during the January transfer window.
This season, Mumba has contributed two assists in 30 appearances, starting all but two of their league matches.
Mumba initially joined Plymouth on loan from Norwich City in July 2022, playing a pivotal role in the team’s success as they clinched the League One title during the 2022-23 season. His performances led to a permanent transfer the following summer for a reported fee of around £1 million, marking Plymouth's record transfer at that time.
Interest in Mumba is not limited to Middlesbrough, with Leeds United also rumoured to be monitoring the defender's progress.

While Middlesbrough's pursuit of Whittaker appears to be advancing, they face competition from Burnley, who are reportedly contemplating matching the offer for the forward.
