Middlesbrough interested in Ipswich Town forward

Middlesbrough have joined the race for the Ipswich Town forward, according to reports.

According to Football Insider, Boro have made an approach for Ipswich Town forward Gwion Edwards as they look to bolster their squad this summer.

The report claims that the Riverside outfit could face the challenge of Luton Town who have indicated an interest in his services. Edwards has entered the final year of his contract and there are indications that he could be sold this summer.

It is understood that Ipswich Town are opened to selling the 27-year-old as they look to recoup funds for the offseason.

Middlesbrough boss Neil Warnock is said to have compiled his list of players that he feels can help the club challenge for promotion next season.

Although Edwards does not have the pedigree of the players recently linked to the club, he has Championship experience and can bring extra quality to the attack.

Boro are expected to make some sales as they look to rejuvenate their squad in the summer transfer window.

The likes of Britt Assombalonga, Dael Fry and Marcus Tavernier have been linked with moves to the Premier League and their sales could bring much-needed funds for the club to spend.

This transfer is one that we will be monitoring as it develops in the coming days ahead of Boro starting pre-season.
