Middlesbrough Look to Extend Contract of Sporting Director
As Middlesbrough's season concludes with a disappointing 10th-place finish, reports suggest the club are eager to extend the contract of Kieran Scott.
Journalist Alan Nixon has reported that Boro's decision to retain Scott could significantly influence Carrick's future.
While Scott has earned respect for his contributions to the club, his extensive professional network may play a pivotal role in the club's decisions should they consider a managerial change.
Nixon has also speculated that Rob Edwards, the former manager of Luton Town and Watford, could emerge as a potential successor to Carrick. Edwards previously interviewed for the Middlesbrough position before Carrick's appointment and shares a mutual admiration with Scott from their time at Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Scott joined Middlesbrough as Head of Football in 2021, having made a notable impact at Norwich City, where he was instrumental in the recruitment of key players such as Emi Buendia and Teemu Pukki.
Despite Middlesbroughâs struggles to secure a return to the Premier League since Scott's arrival, his tenure is generally viewed positively, particularly for the robust recruitment strategy he has implemented.

Another name in the mix is Alex Neil, who previously collaborated with Scott at Norwich City. Following a period at Millwall, where his team narrowly missed out on the play-offs, Neil’s familiarity with Scott could make him a viable choice for the club's management.
