Middlesbrough Negotiating Permanent Transfer for Defender George Edmundson
Ipswich Town manager Kieran McKenna has confirmed that Middlesbrough are negotiating for the permanent transfer of defender George Edmundson, currently on loan at the Riverside Stadium.
With the January transfer window open, Middlesbrough are keen to secure Edmundson's services on a long-term basis.
As reported by The Northern Echo, the initial offer from Middlesbrough, estimated at around £350,000, was turned down by Ipswich earlier this week.
Despite this setback, discussions between the two clubs continue, reflecting a sustained interest in reaching an agreement.
"I don't think there's anything to announce, but I believe that there's interest there," McKenna stated in an interview with the East Anglian Daily Times.
He further noted, "I think there are some discussions going on that I haven't been involved in. He's been having a good season, which is great to see. Middlesbrough are having another good season. I think there's some interest on that side. Whether a deal is possible to be done, I'm not sure."

Signing Edmundson in on a permanent basis would free up another loan slot within the squad. With a maximum of five loan players permitted in a matchday squad, this added flexibility could be beneficial.
