Middlesbrough set to complete Payero deal after Argentina exit the Olympics
Middlesbrough's deal for Martin Payero from Atletico Banfield is all but done. However, it has been delayed due to some financial issues and Payero's involvement at the Olympics.
According to reports, Middlesbrough are closing in on the signing of Martin Payero after Argentina were dumped out of the Olympics.
After finishing third in Group C, the Argentines crashed out of the football tournament, following a 2-0 loss to Australia and a 1-1 draw against Spain.
They could only beat Egypt 1-0 in their second match, but it wasn't enough to get them past the group stage.
They are now on their way home, and it could help Middlesbrough finalise their deal to sign Payero in the transfer window. Although the deal is almost done, with his medicals already completed, Boro need to finalise some small complications concerning it before the announcement.

The only game Payero started for Argentine before crashing out was against Egpyt, the only game they won. It means he could be fit enough to get back straight into action with Boro when he eventually signs for Neil Warnock's side.
