Middlesbrough target not distracted by transfer talks

Middlesbrough target Lawrence Shankland has revealed that he is not distracted by rumours of a potential transfer from Dundee United.

The striker has been linked with a move to Boro following his impressive start to the season. Shankland has netted 26 goals for Dundee this season and has attracted interest from the likes of Celtic, Boro, Rangers and Nottingham Forest.

Shankland, whose excellent form saw him become a full international for Scotland, admitted in a recent interview that his mind was set with the current task at hand.

"All I've got in my mind is to keep scoring and see what I can get."

He also revealed that his recent form has boosted his confidence to perform better.

"I hope I do but it's not as easy as going out there and scoring every week, but I'm just happy to see them going in now and hope to continue that form."

Boro manager Jonathan Woodgate is said to be interested in the forward as a potential replacement for Leeds United linked Britt Assombalonga.

There have been reports that Assombalonga could be on his way out of the club and Shankland is viewed as a replacement.

This transfer speculation is one that will likely continue until the end of the window.
