Middlesbrough target set for Newcastle United loan departure

Matty Longstaff's departure from Newcastle United has been in consideration for a long time, and it seems the Magpies are now prepared to sanction his loan departure.

According to reports, Middlesbrough could finally get their chance to sign Newcastle United midfielder Matty Longstaff as Newcastle United prepare to allow him to leave on loan.

However, Boro will have to go head-to-head with clubs like Derby County and West Brom to secure a deal for him in the summer transfer window.

Longstaff had a difficult period with Newcastle last season, after struggling for playing time. The 21-year-old played in just five Premier League matches after falling down Steve Bruce's pecking order.

He had to play some matches for the club's Under-23s to get some minutes under his belt.

He will be desperate to leave the club in search of regular first-team football. Still, the possibility that he will sign for Middlesbrough is slim, considering Neil Warnock is on the verge of completing a move for Matt Crooks from Rotherham United.

Derby County and West Brom have a higher advantage to sign the 21-year-old, and it remains to be seen where he ends up playing next season.
