Mowbray rules out loan moves

Middlesbrough manager Tony Mowbray has ruled out a move for any players that are available for loan at the moment, despite the vast amount of injuries he has to deal with right now.

Mowbray was without ten senior members of the his squad on Saturday’s clash with Watford, which left some wondering whether he would dive into the loan market to give himself more options. Ten became eleven when Justin Hoyte limped of the pitch at Vicarage Road.

However, the Boro boss still believes that his side can compete with the limited options they have available and insists that even loan players do not come cheap.

He said: “I don’t envisage any players coming in at the moment,”

“I get calls from agents telling me lots and lots of players are still available.

“But players cost money and at the moment we are still re-addressing things financially.

“The chairman has allowed us to bring these players in over the summer and numbers-wise we are okay, thankfully, because we need those numbers due to the injury situation at the moment.

These injuries have not meant a run of poor performances though as the North East side currently sit on 16 points, just one of the top six and are capable of making a real promotion push this campaign.

When members of the squad do eventually return, it will be a huge boost for the club and some players will even feel like new signings. If Boro are able to push for the top six with so many people missing, then it will be interesting to see just what they can achieve with everyone available.

This league is so tight that a boost few wins can suddenly see you challenging for not just the top six, but the automatic promotions spots. If you are a fan of betting novelty bets, sticking some money on an unlikely play-off winner is sometimes the way to go in this league.

Mowbray has not ruled out doing some business in the January transfer window however, as he can then sign players on a permanent deal.

For now though, it does not look as though there will be any new faces heading to the Riverside Stadium – but things are looking bright at Boro.
