Neil Warnock confirms Boro interest in Cardiff City defender

As the summer passes by, Middlesbrough are realising that they will need to sign a left-sided defender, and they have been linked to making a move for a Cardiff City defender.

Middlesbrough boss Neil Warnock has confirmed Middlesbrough's interest in signing Cardiff City defender Ciaron Brown.

Boro do not currently have a fit left-back, and they had to start Marcus Tavernier in the left wing-back position in their 2-1 friendly victory over Plymouth Argyle at Home Park.

Natural left-footed players Marc Bola and Hayden Coulson are currently injured, and there are doubts about Coulson's future, considering he has been attracting interest from Ipswich Town.

However, Boro are likely to allow him to leave before the end of the transfer window, and they need to sign a replacement that will start for the team before Bola returns from injury.

Warnock has now confirmed that Middlesbrough are interested in signing Brown.

"We are looking for another left-sided player, and he is one of three lads that we're looking at at the minute."

"We're a bit short on that left side, and I think you're asking a bit too much of Pelts."

"He can do the right and the centre, but you're asking a bit much of him to be on the left too."

"It's nice to have a natural left-footer, and you saw tonight we're short in that area."

The arrival of a new left-back means Coulson may need to leave the club before the end of the transfer window. It remains to be seen if this would be on loan or a permanent move.
