Tony Pulis slams ungrateful Braithwaite and claims Steve Gibson bent over backwards to accommodate striker

The comments by the Middlesbrough manager have come in the wake of the critique levelled at his tactics by Martin Braithwaite who is currently on loan at Leganes.

Middlesbrough manager Tony Pulis has revealed his astonishment at the way want-away striker Martin Braithwaite has spoken about the club, claiming that club chairman Steve Gibson "bent over backwards" to agree to the demands of the forward.

Earlier this week, Braithwaite slammed the tactics of Tony Pulis who is currently the favourite to be the next Championship manager to be sacked according to free money no deposit betting sites.

Signed by former Boro manager Gary Monk in the summer of 2017, Braithwaite enjoyed an auspicious start to his career on Teesside.

However, after a proposed move to Leganes collapsed last summer, the form of the striker nosedived before his departure in January.

When asked how he construed the statements of the striker Pulis said "the biggest disappointment for me is he's the highest paid player I've ever worked with in the Championship."

"As a matter of fact, the last club I worked at, which was a Premier League club, he'd be in the top five earners at the club."

"Steve Gibson bent over backwards to give that lad everything he wanted to bring him to this club."

"To show the disrespect he's shown to this club by saying he's not coming back, to Steve Gibson, who's made him a multi-millionaire, let's make no bones about it, the wages and what he's earning are astonishing."

After the collapse of his move in the summer, Braithwaite had taken to social media in September and vowed to remain "fully focused" for the team.

Yet, despite his statements, Braithwaite rarely featured for Boro before his loan move to Leganes in January.

Pulis, meanwhile, was stunned at the way the striker has treated the club, calling it disrespectful not only to the club but also to his team-mates and fans.

"For him to show Steve Gibson that disrespect, and the supporters and his fellow players, it's just amazing. I've dealt with players all my life, some can make your hair curl - not mine. But for him to come out and say that, it just puts him up there as such an ungrateful person."
