United To Splash The Cash On Boro Stars

Manchester United have accepted the world record fee of £80m for Cristiano Ronaldo. Could Stewart Downing be in line for a shock move to Old Trafford.

The news today that Manchester United FC have accepted Real Madrid's £80 million bid for Cristiano Ronaldo has lead to rumours about who may be in line to join the Premier League Champions.

The Daily Mail has identified Stewart Downing as a possible target, stating that Ferguson has long been an admirer of Middlesbrough FC's England international.

Downing could be considered as a cheap option for Sir Alex Ferguson and they would certainly have the upper hand in in any negotiations.

Tuncay Sanli could also be a possible target. With Chelsea FC and Liverpool FC both chasing the Turkish star. Manchester United could prize the Boro striker away with a bid in excess of £8 million.

Tuncay has proved his qualities against Manchester United, scoring a hatrick against them in the Champions League in the 2004-05 season.

Adam Johnson has also been linked with a host of clubs, including Manchester United and Real Madrid. Could the England U21 star be tempted with a move to Old Trafford.
