Woodgate hints on potential transfer for Burnley defender
Middlesbrough boss Jonathan Woodgate has hinted about a possible transfer for Burnley defender Ben Gibson.
Gibson left Boro to join Burnley in a £15 million transfer deal but has struggled for first-team football.
The 27-year-old has been unable to force himself into the team ahead of the established duo of James Tarkowski and Ben Mee at Turf Moor.
Recent reports have suggested that the defender is desperate for first-team football with Boro his most likely destination in January.
Boro have struggled with injuries in the centre-back position and Woodgate hinted after the loss to Fulham that the club could make moves in the January transfer window for reinforcements.
Burnley are opened to allowing Gibson move on loan to the Riverside but are also interested in Boro defender Dael Fry.
Local media claims that the club have made a £10 million bid for the 22-year-old and Boro could be tempted to sell if they include Gibson as part of the deal for the rest of the season.
Gibson was recently seen at Rockliffe and Woodgate was asked about a potential move for the player.
He replied that a transfer is possible with two weeks left on the window.
"There's two more weeks to go, let's see what happens."
