Well it's interesting that you mention Arsenal, because they aren't really grinding out results at this moment in time. Yes, they're in a better place than us obviously, but their season is in danger of unravelling, just like ours. And just like us, they're stuck in a bit of a rut, because Arteta is wedded to a particular style of football, and teams have worked out how to nullify it, which is exactly what you're saying about Hellnerg.and they're persisting with strikers who aren't really firing (although obviously Gyokeres has been miles better than any of our forwards, he's still a bit of a flat track bully who hasn't been able to make a massive difference in the big games). It's telling that their fans are desperate for Arteta to turn to a 16 year old because the rest of the attackers have become so systematic that they can't create something out of nothing. Watching Arsenal against Sporting the other night was like being at a Boro match. It's a division in which fine margins matter. And it's a long slog of a division as well. Stoke and Hull were both sniffing at the top 2 not that long ago, and they've fallen away. The fact that we've only just slipped out of the Top 2 90% of the way through the season shouldn't be used as a stick to beat Hellberg with, considering he had probably only even heard of a handful of our players when he arrived here. And we're still in with a shout with 4 games to go. That's a world away from Warnock not being able to make the playoffs. Also, Hellberg has tried to mix it up. Against Swansea away particularly, we played fast, direct, a couple of long balls, we tried crossing from deep and getting to the byline. Then you have two brainless decisions from our defence, and suddenly you're having to try to play through 11 men behind the ball again, and you can't do any of that stuff, so you have to do the same old thing. And the point that you're missing is that I don't think anyone is saying that it's just the players' fault and that everyone else is blameless. We're just saying that IF Hellberg is fed up with his players (which is based on one guy's interpretation of his manner in a press conference), then he just feels similar to the rest of us. Lampard hasn't done anything revolutionary with Coventry to be able to break down stubborn defences. They just have miles better forwards, who can make a difference when it matters. And once you're 1-0 up, you can exploit the gaps and get a second or a third. They can't always do it either (drew 0-0 with Oxford and Sheffield Wed), but having more clinical forwards means they have been able to do it more often than us.
